Took this Autumn foliage photo a few days ago at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport, MA. It was a beautiful Fall day and the Fall colors are getting closer to peak!!
It may be a bit hard to see on this smaller version of the photo but on the mooring ball of the sailboat there is a bird with his wings all stretched out! Thought that was pretty cool. If you click the photo to make it larger you should be able to see the bird better.
Since this will probably be my last post before Christmas I just want to take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! And I also want to thank you all for your continued visits and comments as they are greatly appreciated!
Hope you have a great Christmas everyone!

Looking through this foggy window in a cabin by a lake the man on the bench seemed to be haunted by the shadowy figure outside the window.
We had our first two snow storms of the year in the past week. Here is a photo I took of the fresh snow on some trees the morning after the first storm.
I took this photo at the same gift shop where I posted this other glass photo last month.
Here is an interesting trivia question. What building in the USA is the the most often-painted building by artists? According to Wikipedia it is this little red building in Rockport MA known simply as Motif Number 1.
I took this photo from inside a gift shop overlooking Rockport Harbor. Its easier to see the details in this photo when you click on the image to make it larger.
A few weeks ago I went to Rockport, MA for the first time. I definitely will be going back as I found it a really charming New England harbor town!
I got the inspiration for this shot from seeing the many very cool photos yz has posted of half sunk boats on his photoblog. I probably would have passed these boats by without a second thought but as soon as I saw them they reminded me of his great sinking boat photos.
Just thought this was funny seeing this guy with his laptop and headphones on this old looking Tall Ship!

Here is some info about the ship:

This fire ship was putting on a show the day of the Tall Ships in Boston and shooting its hoses into the air.
Also just want to let everyone know I will not have internet access for the next week so I will not be able to visit or comment on your blogs. I have setup my blog to auto-post some photos over the next week though so if you want to stop by it is always appreciated!
Taking a little break from the Tall Ships for a bit. This also is from Boston it is from the lobby of a modern art museum right by the water. See if you can find me in one of the mirrors!
This is the fifth photo in my Boston Tall Ships 2009 series. Here are some of the smaller Tall Ships as seen through this poem on glass entitled “New England Ode”.
A view of Boston Harbor from the back of the Tall Ship Mircea. This is the fourth photo in my Boston Tall Ships 2009 series.
The third picture in my Boston Tall Ships 2009 series. Here is a sailor observing the scene and large crowds while aboard his ship. In the background you can see the Tall Ship Mircea that I posted a photo of last time.
This it the first photo in my Boston Tall Ships 2009 series. Yesterday I went to the 2009 Boston Tall Ships event in Boston, MA. There were over 40 of these tall ships from around the world docked all around Boston that you can look at and tour. Sadly because of budget cuts there was no “Parade of Sails” this year so there was no opportunity to see these boats under sail.
Still was a great event though! The Tall Ships will be in Boston until July 13th so if you are in the area I recommend checking them out! I will be posting more photos from the Tall Ships event over the coming days so stay tuned!
Here is some info about the ship:
Name: Sagres
Homeport: Lisbon, Portugal
Rig: Barque
Sparred Length: 293’ 6″
Draft: 17’
Beam: 39′ 6″
Hull: Steel
I wanted to show this angle of the Nubble Lighthouse so that the white trolley system to the left could be more easily seen. This trolley was used to transport supplies and food to the Light Keepers who lived on the island. One interesting story I read about online told how one of the Light Keepers from the 1960’s used to put his children in this basket everyday to ferry them across the ocean for school. When a photo appeared of one of the children in the basket suspended over the water in the local newspaper the district commander decided to ban families with school age children from living on the island. If your interested in reading a lot more history about the Nubble lighthouse and want to see the famous photo from the 1960’s of the child in the trolley above the water check out this very informative Light House website.
Here is the primary reason I went to Maine in the first place to take photos of my favorite lighthouse the “Nubble Lighthouse” (also known as The Cape Neddick Lighthouse). This lighthouse is located in York, Maine. The lighthouse was built in 1879 and has been in continuous service since. A light keeper lived on this island until the lighthouse was automated in 1987.
On this particular day it was so foggy that the foghorn on the lighthouse was blasting every 10 seconds or so to warn sailors who could not see the light. Starting today I am going to start a series featuring photos I took of the Nubble Lighthouse on this foggy day.
Try saying that 5 times fast
I took this photo yesterday because I thought these decaying flowers looked really cool. The petals seem to be turning into an almost fur like substance! Here is a photo of these same flowers I posted awhile back before they started dying to compare them!
Here is a photo of our dining room table that I just took today before it gets all messy with food. And it being Thanksgiving and all I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has visited and posted on my photoblog as it is a real encouragement to read everyones opinions and it inspires me to try and take better photos. Anyways I just want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
Here is a photo I took a couple of weeks ago of some people across the pond out enjoying the fine fall weather.
Here is a photo I took a week or so ago at the Andover State Forest in Andover MA. The colors looked even better in the reflections then on the actual trees I thought!
While hiking last weekend I came upon this pine tree with a red leaf lying on it and I really liked the contrast of the never changing life filled evergreen with the red dying leaf.
I was walking on the beach and came upon an odd site. A tire that was in good shape just sticking out of the sand as if it where one of the rocks nearby it. I am not sure how it got there maybe it washed ashore? Strange how it was perfectly standing there though.
This very impressive memorial for the holocaust is in Boston near Faneuil Hall on the famous Boston Freedom Trail. I highly recommend you check it out if you are ever in Boston. To learn more about The New England Holocaust Memorial check out the official website.
Here is a photo I took of Marblehead Harbor in January. On the far right you can see a rather average looking lighthouse that is not very pretty (it looks sort of like an oil well or something) but it gets the job done.
Here is an old alleyway in Boston, MA. I thought it was interesting that it was an entirely brick alleyway with both the ground and the walls made of brick. The graffiti and the dirty ground gave the alley a gritty look that I liked.
Here is a photo of the famous MS Mount Washington on Lake Winnipesaukee. If you have ever been to Lake Winnipesaukee in the summer chances are good you have seen this huge boat sometime during your stay. It is very popular with tourists and gives tours of the lake every few hours. I converted this photo to sepia tone and added the noise to give the photo an old time look.
I took this photo in Boston last year. This very colorful guy making balloon animals was attracting alot of attention. Notice even the women who are walking away from him in the background cant help but peak over their shoulders without even watching where they are going!
