Rockport Harbor, Motif Number 1, Ocean, Boats

A few weeks ago I went to Rockport,  MA for the first time.  I definitely will be going back as I found it a really charming New England harbor town!

Tall Ship Crossing, Tall Ships 2009, Boston, MA, Sagres

The Tall Ships have to wait at red lights like everyone else. ;) Better look both ways before crossing the street or you may get sailed over! :D

Turtle Power, Boston, Turtle Suit, New England Aquarium

This turtle  suit made me smile when I saw it. I took this outside of the New England Aquarium in Boston, MA and as you can see this Turtle attracted quite the crowd.

Through the Looking Glass, Mirrors, Colors, Boston, MA, Reflections

Taking a little break from the Tall Ships for a bit. This also is from Boston it is from the lobby of a modern art museum right by the water. See if you can find me in one of the mirrors! :)

Well its the week of July 4th and here in MA it has been one of the rainiest and coldest Junes I can remember! I thought this photo was appropriate considering the dreary weather.

Hawaiian Ice, Shaved Ice, Bike, Popcorn

Nothing better then Shaved Ice on a hot day! This was taken at the Hampton Beach Boardwalk in Hampton, NH.

Street Sweeper

Looks like this Street Sweeper needs to be cleaned up just as much as the streets do!

I don’t really know if this is a church or what but I really liked the look of this old steeple. This was taken in Brockton, MA right before a huge thunderstorm Memorial Day weekend. It is located right across the street from Cape Cod Pizza which is where we had just had lunch before.  Also if you are ever in that area and looking for great pizza I highly recommend Cape Cod Pizza (oh and their famous Greek Salads are awesome too!)

This dog, that I assume belonged to the owner of this small store, was watching intently as each person walked by or came into the store to browse for souvenirs.

Old Tyme Car Photo, 1960's slide, Antique Car

I was lucky to catch this old time car driving past a photo shop named Old Tyme Photo. I used a default filter in my editing program that is supposed to make the photo look like a 1960’s slide. I think the effect worked pretty well.

Ghost Town, Salem Willows, Arcade, Lensbaby

Sorry I have not been posting or visiting your blogs the last couple of days. I went to my brother’s house for Easter and did not have time to post new photos. Hope you all had a good Easter! I am taking a break from Nubble Lighthouse photos for a bit but will post some more soon. For now here is another shot of Salem Willows in Salem MA. This was taken in March and this street with arcades and food stands that is usually mobbed in the summer was like a ghost town.

Plymouth MA, Seagull, All Along the Watchtower

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

Plymouth MA, Wooden Houses, Beach, Plymouth Rock

I am not sure what these old looking buildings are in Plymouth. There are right near Plymouth rock so I assume they must be some sort of recreation of some old fashioned buildings? Anyways there was a big ugly red wastebasket that was between the two buildings so it took a little while to find an angle to shot this at that did not show the basket. But as you can see I eventually did find an angle that worked!

Fire Box, Plymouth MA

I decided to take a break with my Lensbaby lens for a bit and last weekend went out to Plymouth MA and took a bunch of photos with my other more “normal” lenses. Here is one of a firebox. You dont see these fireboxes as much anymore these days. I guess they are getting obsolete becuase of cell phones.

Boston, MA, Sunset

On the way back from Boston there was a great sunset. This was taken from the car window on the highway while we were driving (and no I was not the driver!)

Boston Sunset

Boston, Full Moon

I took this photo right after taking the photo I posted last time of the skyline of Boston. As I was getting ready to leave the rooftop location where I took that photo I saw the full moon barely visible in the afternoon brightness just coming into view above these factories. I decided to convert the photo to black and white becuase it was really hard to see the barely visible moon against the bright blue sky in the color version.

John Hancock Tower, Boston, MA

Here is a photo I took last weekend of the John Hancock Tower in Boston, MA. According to Wikipedia The John Hancock Tower is the tallest building in Boston and in fact the tallest building in all of New England.

St. Brigid Parish, South Boston MA

I went to South Boston last weekend and was able to get a few photos. Here is a shot of the St. Brigid Parish in South Boston MA.

Ice Church,Christmas,Glow

During the Ice Storm I was able to take this photo of a church covered with ice. There was so much ice it almost looked like a Christmas decoration! The ice even gave off a strange blueish glow as if a light was on inside the church.

Ok ok it is a Christmas decoration but I thought it would be a funny transition from the ice storm photos :)

For Whom the Bell Tolls,Bell,Fall,Autumn,Cross

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main… Any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”

-John Donne

Salt Meets Pepper

I was eating at a Thai Resturant and they had these very cool Salt and Pepper shakers that I had to take a picture of. I know there is nothing great about this photo but I thought they where cool so I Just thought I would share it with everyone. BTW if you are ever in MA and looking for a GREAT Thai restaurant check out “The Chatta Box” not only amazing Thai food but awesome salt and pepper shakers too! :)

Window,Fall,Autumn,MA,Pond,Bench

Here is a photo looking through the window of an old lodge that is next to this pond at borderland state park. I spent a long time trying to decide whether this photo looked better in color or black and white. I would process it in b&w then undo then process and I could not decide which was better so I have decided to post both versions and let you guys tell me which is better! Today I will post this color version and tomorrow the black and white version.

Here is a photo I took last weekend looking across Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield MA.

Salem MA, Water Tower, Blue, Sails, Ocean

Since so many people where trying to figure out what “The Blue Thing” was in my last post I thought it would be fun to post a different  photo than I planned to today of “The Blue Thing” and name todays post after the comments that many people made yesterday wondering what it was. So here is the Salem Water Tower in all its glory. Thanks for helping me come up with a title!  :)

Ghost of Christmas Past, Christmas Wreath

Here is a photo of an old Christmas Wreath that I found in the woods last week.

Chimney, A Monument to Lost Happiness

There was something sad about this chimney sitting by itself near the walking path I was on. It was the last remnant of some house or factory and it made me wonder what used to be there. There is almost no evidence left of any building ever being there except for this chimney, forever standing, as a monument for dreams long forgotten.

The Wright Museum, Tank, Wolfeboro, NH

The Wright Museum is a World War II museum that is located in Wolfeboro NH. The poster was so colorful and interesting I decided to desaturate the rest of the photo and leave that in color. I cant decide if it worked or not. Either way I think this is a pretty cool way to advertise a museum with a tank breaking through the wall!

Flowers, Free Speech Sign, Storefront

Here is another photo from Newburyport, MA that I took last weekend. This is a store front that was downtown. The sign may welcome free speech but if you notice in the upper left corner on the little sticker you wont get the sign for free because it costs $16. :)

Free Speech

Pedestrian Crossing, Railroad, Signs, Graffiti

I took this photo on a walking trail in Wolfeboro NH that used to be railroad tracks. There are many old rusty railroad type things on this trail and this is one of them that someone drew some graffiti on. I liked how the drawing looked alot like the pedestrian crossing sign that was behind it.

Newburyport Graffiti, wall art, boats, alley

Here is a shot of an alleyway in Newburyport, MA. I liked the contrast of the giant wall painting of the old time Newburyport Harbor with the crude Graffiti on the opposite wall. Sadly the sky is blown out but I liked the rest of the picture so much I decided to post it anyways.

newburyport church

I went to Newburyport MA yesterday and here is a shot looking up at a cool old church in downtown Newburyport. I took this photo with my old 3.2 mp Canon Point and Shoot Camera.

Covered Bridge, NH, White Mountains

Since alot of people seemed to like the photo of the covered bridge that I posted last week I decided to post a couple more photos of it over the next couple of days from some different angles. Here is a shot of the side of it that shows some of the river below it.

North Conway Train Station, NH

Here is a photo I took of the train station in North Conway NH.

Farm, Decay, Paint Peeling

Here is an old decaying farm building found on the same farm where I took the photos of the cows eating that I posted yesterday.
