If you have been visiting my photoblog for awhile you may remember that last year I posted alot of photos from the annual Hampton Beach Sand Sculpture contest. This past week the 2009 contest was held. I was sadly not able to stay to see any of the finished designs but I was lucky to of least see one of the artists in the very early stages of creating his sculpture. If you want to see the photos from the 2008 Sand Sculpture competition check out the ones I posted here last year.

CLEVER WORKER OF SAND AND WATER !
sure takes a certain amount of skill and creativity to come up with these sculptures.. great capture here..
Cool shot, Its always fun to watch these guys.
We have a few coming up here as well, but I do believe they may not be until next month.
Great shot…it’s fun to watch others create!
WOW, these should take “some” time to complete. It should be fun watching these guys go about their creations.
That guy is really an artist. I love seeing these things.
He’s a sand master!
Amazing ’sand artists’!!! Love how you captured the artist-at-work..and it’s a wonder (given the weather) that they’re even doing the contests this year at all!!!
Ya I know what you mean! June has been terrible weather wise!! Hope July is better!
i love the candor on this shot andy. he seems to be really enjoying what he’s doing, nice work!
A fine shot of this artist working away at his unusual craft. I would assume an artist must have a good understanding of how to prepare the sand to make this work. Fine shot.
I am always amazed by sand sculptors. Nice shot.
That really looks like some hard work and needs lots of concentration too in such busy beaches.
Such skill and patience to create these works of art that are so temporary in nature. Great capture of the process, Andy.
I actually thought he was carving clay, Andy!
Wonderful capture of an artist at work!
I certainly wouldn’t have the patience for that even if I had the ability.
Great shot. Like the natural colors! good work!
I always love watching artist at work, this is a great capture!
I need a talent like this. Well, I take that back; I don’t have the patience.
I always admire people that can make these! What a patience you must have!
It looks a touch like the smiling Buddha. Must be fun to be at such an event!
