I decided to take a break with my Lensbaby lens for a bit and last weekend went out to Plymouth MA and took a bunch of photos with my other more “normal” lenses. Here is one of a firebox. You dont see these fireboxes as much anymore these days. I guess they are getting obsolete becuase of cell phones.

interesting object, never seen such a thing, we don’t have them over here
love the intense red colour
i think it is generally good to take a break with things like a very special lensbaby, because when you return to it you’ll find its inspiration multiplied
This one can’t be missed
Super blast of reds!
Hmmm…it’s true. You don’t see these around all that much anymore…altho I don’t see how a cell phone could take their place. Love the color and detail..and the reminder that there is beauty in simple things.
well i for one miss things like pay phones, coz i don’t have a cell phone!! nice shot, a reminder of the things we are losing
haven’t seen one of these yet, i guess they’re phasing them out because kids could easily use this for pranks? nice capture though..
You are losing the classic visual reminders of yesteryear as we are in England, the red phone boxes and old double decker Routemaster buses. They call it progress, but I see it as the death of character and individualism.
A neat shot, Andy
Outstanding colors! Wonderful light and contrast ! ]:)
Cool shot, Andy! I haven’t seen one in a very long time.
Interesting shot Andy, haven’t seen one of these in very many years. Excellent capture, love the red colors.
Really nice shot. You’ve captured a mood.
This is one of those conventional items of the past that disappear and we don’t notice they’re gone. I think that is what is happening to pay phone booths. Nice shot.
a cool take with beautiful range of colors, and an excellent DOF!
A blast from the past
What an amazing find.. I wonder how many people actually “seeing”/noticing this firebox. These things tend to “disappear” from our sight with years.
We had these in our neighborhoods when I was growing up in Dayton. I’ve never seen one in Arkansas.
Thanks for your comment Andy. Your blog is pretty cool
I’ve got experiance with WordPress photoblogging too, but I recently switched back to PixelPost, because it has in a way more photoblog feeling. The advantage in WordPress is that you can very easily creat new sites and the content management is fabulous.
Have a nice day!

Nice little piece from the past Andi. ever seen one before till now. And you are right, cellphones are more useful these days
amazing … good crop and so crisp colors
