As promised here is the same photo as yesterday only this time processed in b&w. I feel that this image takes on a more somber and depressing mood when its in black and white. Now instead of looking out into the beautiful fall landscape planning for a day of hiking it seems the viewer is trapped inside looking out at an outside world that seems so far away and bleak. While in reality only a simple pane of glass separates the viewer from the outside world it may as well be a prison cell. Well of least that was my feelings on the drastic change in tone of the b&w and color versions as I was processing these images.

I agree with your estimation. The color was much more appealing!
You know, it’s the mono version which really grabs my atention. Something to do with the bleaker nature, as you so rightly state.
Suddenly the ambience overshadows the beauty of the scene, the mood darkens and storylines leap out at me from the image. That might be an indication of the darkness of my soul, ha ha, but it holds such an interest in mono.
Amazing how a scene can alter by a simple conversion. The chair takes on a demure sadness, and really talks to me. A fascinating experiment, many thanks
Somehow the b&w version makes it feel - to me - more like a view from a prison cell than out of a pretty window. It really takes on a dramatically different feel in b&w.
Very interesting experiment.
Nice!!!
I agree with Marcie. Great B&W
ooooh i LOVE it in black and white, looks old almost… wow, great great
You’re right, this does take on more of a somber mood than the previous version. Feels like I’m trapped inside and I’m left to dream of what it must be like to be free.
A magnificent catch, perhaps if I had not seen the previous year, I would say that is the maximum, but I prefer the colors!
i more or less am attracted to the dark side, so i choose this over the colored version.. nice work..
I like both images, but I think I’m drawn to the b&w more than the color. Maybe it is just reflecting my mood after paying my bills!
I prefer this one, I can feel a melancholy mood
An interesting study between the color & B&W. My preference is the full color:-)
I think the black and white gives this a whole different mood. Much more dramatic.
What a fantastic atmosphere this image has. The darkness of the inside and the shallow depth of field are very storytelling. Great work!
b/w is great, maybe i would have crop it with a litte less dark frame, but it’s a nice result anyway.
I prefer the b&w version … great !
Wow — what a difference a little (lack of) color makes!
I got to go with the color version. If the image was tack sharp and not soft looking I would then maybe prefer the B&W. Both are good.
The B&W one works better for me, don’t know why, it just does
I prefer the B&W one too.. so classic, great shot!
I love the black and white on this. From one photographer to another, great images! Keep up the good work!
