I went to Salem Willows Park in Salem, MA yesterday and in the park they have a good number of very large, very old trees. Here is a shot looking up one of them.
the bark on the tree has an eerie look, like it’s still shivering under what it witnessed during the witch hunt!! or maybe that’s a different Salem lol great shot!
woah! the real Salem?! if only i knew that it was in MA then i could’ve visited it when i was in boston.. so how was it? i hope this week will be a ’salem series’.. hehe..
excellent detail on this tree, i like the looking up perspective too.. nice IR processing too..
I go to Salem often as my Father has a sailboat in Salem Harbor. Its a really nice place with alot of historic attractions and definitely worth checking out next time you are near there. However I don’t suggest visiting when it gets closer to Halloween unless you like tourists and traffic as you will get TONS of both! Oh and yes I will be posting a few more photos this week from my weekend stop at Salem!
Wow, a great capture of this fascinating tree. Certain trees are always amazing to me. Really love this one, great textures and interesting the way it has grown. Like the perspective with your shot, great job!
I like the rough hewn bark and especially the way you’ve processed to give the bark a lighter tinge making the contrast appealing rather than dark and dismal looking. Nice work.
Welcome to my photoblog. I will try to post a new photo that I have taken every day so check back often! I also will occasionally post some reviews of photo gear that I purchase.

Nope you have the right Salem. This is indeed the famous Salem that had the Witch Trials.

A beautiful image, superb majesty with this degree of view, a good choice monochrome.

Andy, that try is awesome. So much texture. I can literally feel it as I was looking at it.

Wonderful choice of monotone here, giving the bark a new lease of life. A terrific perspective, imposing and magnificent. A winner for sure
lovely tree. Hard to associate it with witches. I like the tones.
Great shot!! Love the processing and the tree bark patterns are awesome.
There is something very beautiful about a gnarly old tree. The detail is really nicely captured.
wanderful tones and sharpness. great point of view
The texture of the bark is stunning! And the pov gives a good impression of how tall these trees are! Nice work!
Nice toning
As a kid I always wanted to climb trees like this, but never did for fear of not knowing how I would get down.
