Summer’s End
You know Summer is over and Fall is here when you see the once healthy looking flowers succumbing to the cold Fall nights. I took this flower shot yesterday and I had really never shot any photos of “ugly” dying flowers before so this was new for me. I want to mention that I got the inspiration to take this shot from several very cool photos on Marcie’s “Daily Practice” photoblog that she had posted over the last week or two of dying flowers so be sure to check her amazing photoblog out!

Great DOF here and the subject of the pink flowers really stand out. Get ready for this new upcoming season… challenges await and more mesmerizing photos to come from all of us! Nice work!
yes, i’ve seen marcie’s page, all these photos of dying flowers kinda tug at my heart strings… so sad… but this is a very beautiful shot.. the old pink leading into the brown.. very nice processing!
And as you can see..they are not ugly at all!!! Beautiful image..and thanks for the link. I’m honored…..
They will be back next year. Good shot.
I find such beauty in the drying & dried stage of flowers. The color is subtle & beautiful in the petals. Your photo is fantastic.

ok, i changed my photo for this afternoon, my sarcasm detector kept going off lol
Ah … you have a “summer is gone - photo”, too. Beautiful, but sad.
a fine shot to depict the decline of summer.. there is beauty in decay.. nice shot..
Very beautiful image, I like beautiful colors and zoom.
These dying flowers can have their own beauty as you have shown in your image. Your detail and composition are excellent.
It’s gorgeous. Love the colors. Very different from the normal. I like it.
Great Shot Andy well you have had your summer now it’s my turn
anyway amazing shot well done still nice colour in there even if they are starting to die well done!
Really love the tones in this picture ;D
I like to see flowers in all cycles of their lives. I find them to be beautiful and interesting when they are past their prime.
I like the over-the-hill flower shots. They are a legitimate part of our flower growing season.
Given for what they are… the make an interesting picture.
I just found your site from bloorphotos. Very nice shots.
