Behind the Lobster Company there was a cool surprise, actual America’s Cup Sailboats that had competed in the famous sailing race!
Here is the view from the free lookout point that is behind the Aquidneck Lobster Company that I posted about in my last blog post.
I will be on vacation for a week with no internet in NH starting tomorrow so I will not be able to reply to comments until next week but I have setup my blog to automatically post a few photos I have setup in advance so there is still new stuff on my blog while I am away. As always comments are appreciated and you can be sure I will read and reply to any comments I get when I return! Anyways I will be back in a week and I hope to take some good photos to post here while on vacation.
Here is a shot of the sign for the Aquidneck Lobster Company in Newport, RI. I thought it was a pretty cool looking weathered aged sign and building. It is right on the water in a prime spot. They sell fresh seafood here right from the ocean. Also here is a tip if you are ever in Newport and want a good spot to see the ocean, they have a free lookout point of the ocean in the back of their building which has some very nice views of the harbor. In the next few days I will post some more shots from this location from inside and outside on the deck overlooking the ocean.
I shot this photo on a very calm day by a lake in NH. I am not sure of the name of the lake but it was near Lake Winnipesaukee.
Here is a macro shot of a purple flower (sorry I dont know the name of it) I took last weekend using my brothers Pentax K100d. I was very happy with the results.
I wanted to let everyone know, if you have not noticed already, that starting today my posts will have larger images so they are easier to see! Also I don’t know if anyone has ever noticed but if you click on the images in my blog posts it makes them larger right on the same page with no new window. Just figured I would let people know because I don’t do a very good job advertising that feature.
Here is a shot of some wild blackberries I found in the woods of NH. I decided to convert the photo to black and white since they are called blackberries and I liked the effect so decided to post it like this.
Here is a shot from a couple of years ago on Wild Cat mountain in NH. This hiking trail is part of the famous Appalachian trail that goes through 14 states from Maine all the way to Georgia.
This was taken that same foggy day at the beach as the Life Guard Photo. I was just taking a general shot of the beach with the fog and it was not until later that I noticed this woman in a red dress who seemed to be posing for a picture. Maybe someone else was taking her photo the same time I took mine? In any event I thought she really stood out in her red dress compared to everyone else in bathing suits. This photo has been heavily cropped and I also desaturated most of the colors except for her.
There is something a bit sad to me about seeing a dead tree that is surrounded on all sides by a sea of life.
Here is another shot from Hampton Beach from a couple of weeks ago. I got down on my knees to try and show some of the incoming waves at eye level. Granted the waves are not very big but I still liked the shot.
Here is a shot I took a couple of weeks ago of an old fashioned vintage car that I saw parked on the side of the road. In the unprocessed shot there were alot of pedestrians and cars in the background that I found distracting so I decided to do tight crop on the grill of the car. To me that was the most interesting part of the car anyways so I think it worked.
I thought this small fishing boat had alot of character so of course I took a photo of it. I desaturated the photo quite a bit so the boat would stand out better. I think it works pretty good.
I took this photo the same day that I took the photo of the foggy sailboat race that I posted last week. I am sure the lifeguard had to pay extra close attention to the people in the water with this thick fog.
Here is a shot of the American Flag that is above the historic Fort Adams in Newport, RI. I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July!
Here is a Clematis that was in my backyard last summer. I wanted to take a picture of it this summer instead of posting one from last summer but a rabbit unfortunately ate the leaves on the plant and its not in very good shape so I don’t think it will be blooming this year. But of least I can share last years photo of it!
